Hi all!! My family of 5, including an infant will be going in Sept. with the dining plan. I know gratuities are no longer included as part of the plan, but are they automatically added to your bill? Also, kind of a dumb ?, do you tip at a buffet?

    Hi Holly,

You are correct that tips are not included on the Disney Dining Plan. You will need to tip your server at table service restaurants. Parties of six or more are automatically assessed an 18% tip on their meal. Since you are a party of fewer than six people, you may choose your tip level.

Tipping is customary at the buffet restaurants at WDW. As far as how much to tip that's really up to you. Most people feel that anywhere from 15-20% is a fair tip for good service. It has been argued that servers at the buffet style restaurants should receive something less. But in my opinion, the buffet servers are hardworking folks doing a great job of keeping your table clear and your beverages full. In some ways, they're working even more than traditional waitstaff because they are constantly clearing. But, as I said, the decision is truly yours.

Have a wonderful trip to WDW.
