My family and I are heading to WDW in about a week and could not be more excited!! We will be in the parks from Dec. 9th-13th. I've heard so many conflicting reports on what the crowds will be like. Any insight? Thanks so much! We can't wait!!!! :-)

Hi, Brooke!  I think the reason for the conflicting reports is that it really can differ from year to year.  Depending on when promotional discounts may be offered, such as free dining or room discounts, crowd levels can fluctuate from year to year.

I would say, however, that you've probably picked the most wonderful time of the year to go!  Traditionally, crowds drop off after the Thanksgiving holiday, and stay lower leading up to the Christmas holiday.  The parks and resorts are all decked out in their holiday finery, and all of the holiday festivities, such as the Candlelight Processional and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, are in full swing.  The weather has cooled off, the humidity is low, and it is my absolute favorite time to be at Walt Disney World (and I have a lot of favorite times!).

I would expect crowds to be low to moderate during your stay, as free dining kicks in towards the very end of your vacation.  With parents hesitant to take kids out of school having just come off of Thanksgiving break, plus being oh so close to Christmas break, I think you'll find comfortable crowd conditions.

    Have an absolutely magical vacation!
