Our family of four is making our first Disney trip in mid September. We haven't made dinner reservations. We have the dining plan . I'm wondering if we need to make reservations before we go, or could we play it by ear once we get there?

I really just can't say this often enough -- MAKE SOME RESERVATIONS!!

Even in a relatively lower crowd time of the year like September, the most popular restaurants at Disney World do fill up. In September you probably could "play it by ear," and still be able to eat somewhere, but your choices would certainly be more limited. It's very likely that you would be unable to dine at any character experiences or premiere signature dining experiences without a reservation. Reservations for dining at Disney restaurants open 180 days in advance at 407-WDW-DINE. If you think you or your children would like to dine with characters, or if there's any particular restaurant that's on your "must do" list, then I urge you to call TODAY to avoid disappointment during your trip.
