This is my family (of five)first time at Disney World. I know that we eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Does that mean that the Deluxe Dining Plan would be best? Or will we be too busy on rides at the theme parks to eat so much?

    Hi Heather!

Although you don't say, I'm going to assume your family of 5 is a mix of adults and kids. If that's not right - be sure to let me know!

In all honesty, I think that the Deluxe Dining Plan is probably too much time out from touring the parks for a family's first visit.

I usually plan on each sit-down meal taking about an hour. If you plan to have breakfast, lunch and dinner as sit-down meals, you'll be budgeting at least 3 hours per day in restaurants. With young kids, this may just be too much time! They are going to be dazzled by the Magic of Walt Disney World AND by the rides and characters. There is so much to see! Plus, you may all me too stuffed to want to go out and walk around!

Personally, even now, our family prefers to have one sit-down meal per day, and then one counter service or snack (ok - maybe a FEW snacks throughout the day!!).

If you're interested in taking advantage of the dining plan, I think the Basic Dining plan would be the best of both worlds! You can have sit-down meals, character meals, AND counter service meals while still getting a good deal!

    Hope this helps!
