Disney World is a great place to travel with teens. There are nearly limitless things for them to do in a wonderfully safe environment. Take a look
HERE at Disney's tips for travel with teens. In addition to their suggestions, I'd like to add a few of my own:
- First and foremost involve your children in the planning. Invest in a few Disney guide books, the Unofficial Guide to WDW is the best. Let your kids each pick the top four of five "must do" things for the trip.
- Give the kids a budget. Let them each have (or earn) their own spending money, that way they won't be constantly asking you for souvenirs.
- Plan some time for independence.
- Look outside the parks for entertainment. The theme parks are GREAT, but teens may also be interested in the water parks, Downtown Disney, and all the recreation opportunities at WDW.
- Take advantage of the park evening Extra Magic Hours. Most of the conventional wisdom says to be at the parks early in the morning when they open, but this can be a near impossibility with teens. You can get some of the same lower crowd benefits by going to the parks during the night time Extra Magic Hours.
- Allow them to indulge in some sophisticated activities. Go for a spa treatment with the girls or plan a gourmet signature dining meal for the group.
I hope this gives you some ideas. Have a wonderful vacation!
