My family is going on our first cruise trip in March. I've booked Palo the same night as the Pirate Party and wanted to know if I should change this? I didn't want my kids to miss anything in the main dinning room. Or, should I just keep my plans as is?

Welcome aboard, Jodie! I'm happy to hear your family is getting ready to set sail for the very first time with Disney Cruise Line! There is so much magic in store for everyone in your family!

I would suggest that you change your reservation at Palo to another night if possible. Normally, if you've cruised with Disney before or if your kids aren't into the pirate party, I'd say keep it. But, since this is your very first cruise, I don't want you to miss a thing! Pirate Night is a huge part of the fun on Disney Cruise Line, and the fun begins at dinner. Guests receive a pirate bandana there and enjoy a pirate-themed menu. Then, in between the dinner seatings there are all sorts of fun pirate activities for the whole family, from game shows to dancing and fun events on deck. Later on, the Pirates IN The Caribbean Deck Party begins and it's concluded with the Buccaneer Blast Fireworks at Sea - something not to be missed!

Guests get into the spirit of the night by dressing in their swashbuckling best! You'll see everything from guests wearing full pirate costumes to those donning just an accessory or two - and this means adults and kids alike! So, plan to pack some pirate gear for your family or purchase new loot onboard in the gift shops. Guests cannot wear pirate gear to Palo, as there is a strict dress code, so that's another reason not to book it that night if you plan on enjoying some of the festivities.

I hope you're able to switch your reservation, or even make brunch reservations at Palo. Your kids will love spending this exciting night with you for all the games inside the ship and the not-to-be-missed Deck Party on the pool deck, Jodie! Have fun as you continue to plan and please let me know if you have other questions before you set sail!
