My family will be going on our first cruise March 2014 on Wonder. We elected to use the ground transportation both ways, but the airline changed the departing flight time from 11:30 to 10:50 am. What are my options for alternate ground transportation?

Welcome aboard, Julia! Cruising with Disney is one of the best vacations a family can experience together and you're almost ready to set sail! Just a couple of months until you'll be heading out to sea!

I'm glad to hear that you've purchased Disney Cruise Line's ground transfers, as they really take care of all of the details and make it a seamless transition from land to sea and back again. It looks like you're sailing out of the Port of Miami. Disney recommends that guests' flights leave no earlier than 11:30 a.m. when using Disney's ground transportation. That being said, you are certainly still welcome to do so. Disney just can't officially guarantee that you will make your flight. That being said, I am almost positive you will. Let me tell you why...

When the ship docks, usually the all clear is called by about 7:30 a.m. At this time, guests who are carrying all of their own luggage off the ship are welcome to disembark. If you have your luggage with you (instead of leaving it out the night before for Disney to take off the ship), you can simply walk off the ship and be some of the first ones on the first motorcoach to the airport. Even if you do allow Disney to take your bags the night before, you could still be in one of the first regular groups of guests to disembark, so you could be out to the motorcoach very soon thereafter. Motorcoaches leave on a continuous basis until all guests have disembarked.

If this makes you nervous, your other option is to hire private transportation to the airport. A quick Google search will turn up some private transportation companies in the Miami area. Taxis from the port are also available. It should take around 25 minutes to travel from the port to the airport.

I help that information points you in the best direction for your family. Happy planning and enjoy your cruise, Julia!
