Ahoy there, Genny! How exciting that your family is setting sail for the very first time on a Disney Cruise.
I know it is super frustrating to feel like you don’t know anything. So, let me share about my August experience on the Disney Dream.
There is no formal night on your cruise, however, our family typically dresses “nicer” for dinners on the cruise. This means sundresses for the girls, and khakis or dress pants with collared shirts for my boys. This isn’t necessary, but it is how we like to cruise.
We, too, had second seating for dinner. I like this because I would rather attend the show earlier and then head to a nice relaxing dinner. There were staggered dining times, so our dinner time that was printed on our Key to the World card was 8:05pm. We were encouraged by the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App to attend the show each evening around 5:45pm. The shows in the
Walt Disney Theatre were “first come, first served”, and Cast Members were there to instruct us where to sit. Social distance was observed in the theater by skipping rows between guests and leaving 3 seats between parties in the row.
Dinner times seemed to be scheduled every 5-10 minutes. So, when we arrived for dinner, we were the only family being seated. Be ready for lots of great food choices in the dining rooms. I highly recommend the Ahi Tuna Tower appetizer in
Enchanted Garden.
When you are onboard, the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App will be your guide to all things. The daily schedules for literally everything can be found on the app. Plus, you can “favorite” things, and the app will send a notification to you about 15 minutes before to remind you to go. I found this very helpful. You can also see dinner menus and character appearances on the app.
I hope all your DREAMs come true as you set sail for the very first time with Captain Mickey. I’m sure you will be hooked on cruising.
Bon Voyage,
Tracy
