Hi there, Angie! Thank you for visiting us with your question.
I love that
Disney Vacation Club offers the option to add
associate members to an owner's membership. That means people like myself, with an adult child, can give my daughter full reign over her own reservation. It means that I don't have to make the calls to
DVC Member Services if she is going on a vacation without us and needs to make changes or add dining plans. It's a great benefit.
The
privileges of associate members are very different from the DVC members themselves. While associate members can book vacations and bank points, you will still need the DVC member present with their ID card to take advantage of the
DVC member benefits - including discounts. Associate members do not get a membership card, and they are not able to take advantage of member perks.
If you live in the same household as your parents, you may want to look at purchasing a
DVC annual pass. The annual pass entitles you to many similar discounts DVC members receive - like shopping and dining discounts. If you plan multiple trips over the course of a year, this may be a great way for you to go and still have access to great discounts.
Happy planning, Angie!
