we are a family of 8 and we have been DVC members since 2017 and still are learning what's included. are there any fun things to do for a 5 and 3 year old that aren't always obvious? are their any DVC discounts for families in Disney?

Welcome to planDisney, Theresa, and Welcome Home!

I love chatting with fellow Disney Vacation Club Members about all the ways we can maximize our Membership. In my opinion, Disney Vacation Club is the perfect choice for bigger families and especially those that include little ones. We became DVC Members shortly before our youngest was born, and we have watched him grow up with Walt Disney World Resort as a backdrop. Let's look at all the ways the youngest in your group can also enjoy DVC!

We recently returned from a long weekend at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. The kids in our group ranged from two to 13. The kids' favorite activity on our trip is also one of the biggest hidden gems of Disney Vacation Club Resorts. Any guesses? If you said Community Hall, you would be correct. Every time I visit a new community hall, I am astounded by the variety of activities available for children of all ages. The smallest in our group enjoyed coloring, crafts, toys, and movies. The older ones participated in making luggage tags, playing shuffleboard, video games, and even bike rentals (with a parent). The adults enjoyed a cool, comfortable place to relax with the kids. Friendly Cast Members were available the entire time to assist with crafts and rentals. The community halls are also the perfect place to make unique souvenirs, from tie-dyed shirts to Marvel-themed magnets. There are six community halls at Walt Disney World Resort. Another DVC unique space is the Member Lounge at EPCOT. Our kids have enjoyed taking the elevator up in the Imagination! Pavilion to sample complimentary soft drinks and relax in the children's entertainment area.

As far as DVC discounts, Members have access to discounts in dining, shopping, and events. The DVC discounts in dining and merchandise have been significant for our family when traveling with little ones. Another option to consider is the DVC discount for Disney After Hours events. These options are perfect for families who want to enjoy lower-than-average wait times and special snacks. Also, keep an eye out for the Member exclusive benefit, Moonlight Magic. These complimentary events are made just for DVC Members, and the unique character greetings and snacks have been just a few of the highlights for our family.
