My family is driving to WDW in June. Will it be easier and quicker to travel from park to park if we drive our own vehicle from our hotel? Or, should we take the buses? Do we have to pay to park at other resorts? We will have one 5 year old with us.

    Hey Renee!

Having done the drive to Disney last year, and being a rental car advocate, I can tell you that having a car on property can be such a time saver!

My family and I find that we save tons of time and stress driving our car to the parks as opposed to taking Disney transportation.  While Disney transport is plentiful and a great way to traverse the Walt Disney World resort, guests are recommended that they allot 45 minutes to an hour to arrive at their scheduled destination.  For me, thats a lot of time in which I could be enjoying the parks, relaxing at the pool, or just plain resting!  Some guests do not want to bothered with having to refuel the car (and with gas prices, I don't blame them!), but it comes in quite handy when one needs to shop for groceries or a small first aid kid.  I find having a car enables guest to come and go as they please as well as ensures there is no wait line.  It truly is a personal choice.

As for parking, if you are a guest at a Walt Disney World Resort, you are not charged parking fees at any of the four theme parks.  Guests are allowed to park at other resorts, with appropriate Key To The World card and/or photo identification.  There is no fee to park at the resorts.

Hope this helps you plan your magical vacation!
