Ahoy, Patricia!
How exciting that your Disney Cruise is less than a month away! My daughter and I both celebrated our birthdays onboard the Disney Dream in July.
I arranged for our staterooms to have birthday decorations upon arrival. You can do this as well on the
Gifts and Amenities section on the Disney Cruise Line website. The decorations were fantastic! They all had magnets, and they were attached to our stateroom ceiling over and around the bed. There was also a large magnet for our stateroom door (we put ours on the inside, just in case), and a cute birthday frame. My daughter was very surprised and loved moving them around the room.
You will also want to be sure that your daughter's birthday is noted on your reservation. Your dining room servers will most likely bring out a special birthday dessert for her, and possibly sing to her as well. You can also visit the Guest Services desk and get her a special Disney Cruise Line birthday button.
In the past, we have ordered a cake while onboard, and we found that we never got around to eating it, since there is so much food available. You might consider getting her a Disney Gift Card to choose a nice souvenir of her Disney Cruise Line birthday instead!
Your daughter will be the perfect age to enjoy the
Edge tween club. On our July cruise, my 12 year old absolutely loved spending time with her new friends in Edge. She should definitely attend the first night's activities, as this is when the kids choose all of the activities for the week.
Please come back and visit us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with any more questions that arise before you set sail!
Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
