Oh, Kirk! “I don’t see how a world that makes such wonderful things could be bad.” And planning your magical moment here is going to make it even more wonderful. Let’s dive right in!
Proposing to your mermaid princess will undoubtedly be extra special at the Most Magical Place on Earth! I'm sure she is going to be over the moon (or under the sea, as the case may be) with your thoughtfulness. Ariel is my favorite Disney Princess as well, and there's no better place than Magic Kingdom Park to meet her and get her royal blessing.
While Ariel is typically not able to be involved in your actual proposal, there are plenty of places where you and your future bride can meet her, chat excitedly, and take photos to commemorate the occasion. But before we get to that, consider booking one or two
Capture Your Moment - Magic Kingdom sessions with a friendly and talented Disney PhotoPass Cast Member who will help to capture the moment you propose and the delight afterward. They may even be able to have the backdrop be Prince Eric's Castle in Fantasyland! To make this a surprise, maybe slip them a note when you check in ahead of your reservation time,
as my friend Prince often suggests. Now, once she's said yes, here are some ways to incorporate our favorite princess into the mix:
- Enjoy a ride on Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid. “Life’s full of tough choices, isn’t it?” But dancing along to the "Under the Sea" scene will certainly not be one of them!
- Meet Ariel at Her Grotto. She'd be happy to congratulate the two of you, share your excitement, and capture the joy of your special day in a few photos.
- Delight in a scrumptious meal with the company of some lovely princesses at Cinderella's Royal Table. While Ariel isn't guaranteed to appear, she usually does, and you'll have some perfectly exquisite company regardless.
- Wave hello to this underwater goddess while viewing the Festival of Fantasy Parade. She'll be flippin' her fins as she waves just to you two!
- When you stop by Disney's Hollywood Studios, be sure to visit Ariel from the live-action story to see what advice she has for you as a newly engaged couple. After all, she knows the power of love and how important it is to fight for it.
Kirk, remember, no matter how your day unfolds, the magic is, and always will be, between the two of you. Your thoughtfulness in incorporating what she loves will shine through on this magical day, your eventual wedding day, and throughout your lives together. As hard as it sometimes can be, be as present as you can, and let the beauty of the moment she looks into your eyes and says yes be captured forever in your heart. And may you always be able to tap into that magic on the good days, the bad, and in between. Because
that's what will always carry you through, warm you up, and remind you that your combined magic is what got you two here in the first place. And it has power if you let it.
I would say that I'm being extra sentimental because this is my last answer here on planDisney for a while. But in truth, I'm a pretty sentimental guy in general. So I'm going to take my own advice, be present, and thank you for entrusting us here at planDisney to help you make magic in one of the most important times of your life. Please know that we are all, including the 2025 team that's about to take over, forever grateful to you and other Guests for allowing us to help you plan such special occasions.
Please don't be a stranger. We are all so excited about the magic you will undoubtedly create.
The spark is in your heart,
Matt
