My family is going to Disney the week of Thanksgiving. What restaurants would you recommend for a real Thanksgiving dinner? Thank you!

    Hi Mary.

I've had the privilege of spending two Thanksgivings at Walt Disney World. While you'll be able to find a turkey supper almost anywhere, even the resort food courts will add this to their menus for the day, in my opinion a holiday deserves the special treatment of a gourmet signature dining experience.

To me, the signature restaurant that feels most homey and Americana is Artist Point in the Wilderness Lodge. They warm woods and autumnal color palate in the dining room feel cozy and safe, and the food is the kind mom makes, only much, much better.

I've also had Thanksgiving dinner at the California Grill at the Contemporary resort. This was wonderful because we got to see the Magic Kingdom fireworks while we ate, but because of all the glass and chrome, it didn't feel as "authentic" to me.

If you don't want to splurge on a signature meal, the Liberty Tree Tavern in the Magic Kingdom is typically thought of as the best standard Thanksgiving spot. The regular menu here is turkey and the fixin's, so they're well prepared for the feast. And the decor is traditional colonial America, so it does suit the season.

Please let me know if you'd like more details about these, or any other, dining opportunities at Walt Disney World.
