Our family will be going to Disney in late aug 08 (mom, dad, grandpop, son(12), daughter(15) We were thinking of going to the Whispering Canyon restaurant one night. Is this a good choice? Also, what is the easiest way to get there from Pop Century Thanks!

I love love love the Whispering Canyon Cafe! I think it's a great choice for your family. There is loads of Disney fun, but without the characters that might make older children or teens feel "uncool."

The food here is quite good. There is full menu of choices, but the house specialty (and my favorite) is the Canyon Skillet. This starts with a fresh salad and yummy cornbread. Then they bring out the skillet filled with chicken, ribs, and pulled pork, along with sides of beans and potatoes. You will definitely not go hungry here. But if you have any room left at all, you could follow up with the S'mores Cheesecake. Somehow I'm always able to find just a bit of room for that ;-)

But the best reason to visit the Whispering Canyon is not the great food, it's the amazing servers. The folk there are real Disney performers. They've developed lots of incredibly funny routines with the guests over the years. I don't want to spoil the fun, but make sure you interact a lot with your server. Ask questions, tell him or her about your day, and hijinks may ensue.

You could also have a nice time exploring the Wilderness Lodge. This resort has my favorite WDW themeing. The architecture is beautiful. You really feel like you're in the great northwest. If you time it right you can even watch the Lodge's geyser blow!

To get to the Whispering Canyon from the Pop Century resort, you should take the bus to the Magic Kingdom. From there you will transfer to a boat to the Wilderness Lodge. The boat dock is located on the water (obviously) between the bus depot and the monorail station.

Hope you have a great trip!
