Welcome aboard, Erin! I always love to see another family from Ohio who is getting ready to set sail with Disney! I wish I were sneaking away from Ohio this fall to set sail on the Disney Fantasy too!
My daughter was in the same boat (pun totally intended!) as your 10 year-old on our last two sailings. She was ready to enjoy the tween fun in
Edge, but was only 10. You'll be super happy to know that though Edge is for ages 11 - 14, they are happy to allow a 10 year-old to participate as long as the parent signs a permission form. Since Edge does not require parents to check their children in and out of the club, as is required at the
Oceaneer Club and
Oceaneer Lab, parent permission for the children to check themselves in and out is required for 10 year-olds. Though the 13 year-old is too old to join in at the Club and Lab during secured programming hours, there are Open House hours for all ages throughout the sailing when both of the girls may like to check out those spaces together, because they do offer a lot of fun!
I must say that though my daughter loves the Club and Lab, she had the most fun ever in Edge on our last sailings. She made new friends, loved the first night's get-to-know-you ice breaker activities (make sure your girls don't miss that!), the photo booth with props that they set up one day, and the crafts and games that took place throughout the sailing. It was a really amazing experience for her, so I just know that your daughter and her friend will enjoy every moment there too!
Have fun planning, and please feel free to stop back with any other questions as the next year goes on before you set sail! We're happy to help!
