Hello there Danielle!
Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for visiting us today. Your summer Disney World vacation is just around the river band... how exciting! I love that you are getting all your details and plans in order now, so you can maximize the fun once you arrive.
I believe you are inquiring about the
free Disney Water Park admission day perk being granted to all Disney Resort guests on arrival day. It's such a Splashtastic opportunity, and I don't blame you one bit for considering a visit to both parks in one day. It was an exciting announcement that they'll both be open this summer!
So here's the scoop. The answer is yes, technically you would be allowed to visit both water parks with the admission ticket you will receive. That being said, this promotion has been very popular and the water parks have been quite busy. This is expected to be the case even more so during your summertime visit! The water parks are actually subject to reaching full capacity, at which point guests will be redirected to the second water park (based on availability). There is also no direct transportation available between the water parks. For these reasons, my recommendation would be to select one park, settle in knowing you've secured your spot for the day, and enjoy every moment!
One other tip, regarding transportation to the water parks so you know how to navigate there.
- Blizzard Beach - First take a bus from your Disney Resort to Animal Kingdom park, then transfer to bus service heading for Blizzard Beach. Some select Disney Resorts will be offering direct bus to this water park, so it may be worth asking about this at the front desk.
- Typhoon Lagoon - First take a bus from your Disney Resort to Disney Springs, then hop on a bus heading for Typhoon Lagoon.
It's worth noting that parking at both water parks is quite limited. So if you were planning to drive your own vehicle, even if the water park had availability... you may run the risk of the parking lot being full. We call that a bibbidi bobbidi bummer! For this reason, Disney has been encouraging guests to use bus transportation from their Disney Resort.
Luggage is not allowed on the Disney transportation buses, but you can leave your bags at bell services if your room is not yet ready for check-in. So if this will be your arrival day adventure, please remember to pack a handy swim bag with your necessities so you can head right to the fun! It's also a good idea to bring a wet bag and change of clothes for your return bus ride back to the resort.
You really can't go wrong with either water park, Danielle! I hope this helps you plan for your terrific Disney World vacation. Please
visit me again at planDisney if I can assist with any other questions you may have.
Just keep swimming!
