Ahoy, Laura!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! A couple of yEARs ago, my family sailed in early January for the first time and loved it! The timing was just right because it gave us time to celebrate the holidays at home and enjoy a tropical getaway before the kids headed back to school. Another perk was experiencing some warmer temperatures during this winter month. The highs in the Bahamas were in the low 80s during the day so we were able to wear shorts and t-shirts. I made sure I packed items that we could layer since the sun doesn't shine quite as long in January. It was definitely cooler at night with lows in the 60s so we did wear pants and long sleeves for the evenings especially with the breeze on deck. The pools on the ship are heated once the outside temperature drops below 75 degrees so bathing suits are a must! You'll also want to plan for beach attire when you soak in all the magic of Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. The water temperature on
Castaway Cay will range from the mid to low 70s. There is so much to enjoy here including water sports, a bike path, a delicious barbecue or just relaxing in a hammock under a gorgeous palm tree!
Laura, as you plan what to bring, I recommend checking over the
Disney Cruise Line Packing List. You'll want to think comfortable clothes and beach attire for the daytime and something a little dressier (and warmer) for the evenings. I'm cold-natured so I actually find the lounges, theaters and restaurants chilly at all times of the year!
I hope I've steered you in the right direction, Laura! Please feel free to reach out again if you have any other questions about your Bahamian adventure!
Have a magical day!
Nancy
