My family is considering the DVC. We have been to Disney 3 times in the last 4 years. We always stay at the Grand Floridian at the Sugar Loaf and want to continue doing so even though it's not a "home" resort. Anyone on the panel stay there on th

    Hi Melina,

Thank you for this question. I love being a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) member because it gives you many vacation options.

I think that you visiting the Walt Disney World Resorts so frequently a DVC membership is something your family might like the having the resort part of your vacation figured out ahead of time. I love knowing I have wonderful resort choices at the Walt Disney World Resort.

I have stayed in the Boca Chica building at the Grand Floridian. This building is directly opposite of Sugar Loaf. The room was nicely sized and the beds were comfortable. Plus the view of the Magic Kingdom was spectacular.

You do not say why you love the Grand Floridian-the rooms, the location or the feel. Lets say it is the location. If you became a DVC member and stayed at Bay Lake Towers, a DVC resort property, you would save over half of your points booking here versus booking at the Grand Floridian. The extra points could be put towards another vacation or used to take a Disney Cruise or Adventures by Disney vacation. Plus at Bay Lake Towers in a studio, you would have a kitchenette which is standard in all studios.

If you are looking for feel, try the Beach Club Villas. This is another great location and the pool is my absolute favorite in all of Walt Disney World. This resort would also save you over half of your points as well.

You could upgrade up to a two bedroom at either location and you would still save points versus booking at the Floridian. In addition, you would have separate sleeping space, full kitchen, two baths and a washer and dryer.

This is the advantage of booking at a DVC property as a member versus a Disney resort.

I hope this helps make a decision.
