Hi me and my family are coming to orlando in August 2010 this is going to be our first family holiday ever. i have two kids 8, 5 not sure what theme parks we should visit. We will be staying at Nick Hotel is that far from Disney world

    Hi Sharon,

There are four main parks at Disney World. You did not mention how long you were staying, so if you have the time I would certainly suggest trying to visit all four parks, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. While each park offers fun attractions, thrilling shows and fantastic restaurants and shopping, each is also very unique and provides a completely different type of experience.

Magic Kingdom is to many the heart of Disney World. It offers the largest number of attractions and is home to Cinderella Castle, Main Street USA and so many other touches brought by Walt's vision. Epcot offers a taste of different cultures with the World Showcase as well as chance to learn all about the elements around you like the land, space and the living sea. Hollywood Studios is where Hollywood meets Florida. This park is all about a tribute to the movies and has a very "star like" feel to it. Lastly is Animal Kingdom. Here you are offered an up close and very in depth view of the animal kingdom and how they live.

Now given all of that, my first suggestion is easily Magic Kingdom. It offers so many fun attractions and shows but also has to me the true feeling of Mickey Mouse and all his pals as well as the magic of Walt's dreams. My second choice would be Hollywood Studios. My boys love the stunt shows and the thrill of being on a "working set". You just never know who you might see or when you might end up in the pictures.

Now while the Nick hotel is no Disney resort, we have stayed there a few times, and you will be happy to hear it is only a few miles from the entrance to Disney World. The last time we stayed there, you were able to take a shuttle throughout the day to a number of the Disney parks. It was just a short ride away.

Hope you have an amazing time!
