My family and I are coming in June 2009 and was wondering if bathing suits are a requirement for pools at the resorts?

Now, now Christina, even Donald Duck wears a suit when he takes a dip at Disney World. But I'm guessing you know that WDW is a G-rated venue. :-)

What I assume you're asking is whether an official swimsuit is required rather than cut-offs or other street attire being worn in the water. I know of no specific rules about what type of clothing must be worn in the resort pools (but, yes, clothing is a requirement). While the vast majority of guests do wear proper swimsuits. I have seen people in the water at the hotels wearing shorts and t-shirts. If you're concerned about exposing too much skin because of modesty or fear of sunburn, you should know that there are now many types of quick-dry clothing designed specifically for water wear. Try searching on sites like landsend.com or llbean.com for the term "rash guard" and you'll find full-coverage clothing that is perfect for the pool.

ThereĀ ARE some rules about attire at the Disney water parks. At the water parks, you cannot wear swimsuits or other clothing with any exposed metal such as rivets or exposed zippers. This is rule is to protect the surface of the slides from scratches and other unnecessary wear. I have seen guests turned away from the water park attractions because their swim attire had metal parts.

The pools at WDW are wonderful -- have a great time swimming!
