My family and I are coming down in early August. At the time my son will be 6 and my daughter will be 2. I have started to look at the character dining experiences, and many of them seem geared toward girls. Any suggestions for a 6 year old boy? Meg, NJ

Hi, Meg!  I have a sister Meg from NJ!

I know how you feel about it seeming like a lack of boy oriented character meals.  I have all nephews, and they would LOVE a meal with the pirates or with some of their favorite Toy Story characters.  But even the boys enjoy Chef Mickey's, the Garden Grill, and the Cape May Character buffet breakfast.  I think Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and even Chip and Dale are characters that appeal to everyone, even my teenage nephew, who hates to admit it, but gets all smiley and blushes when he gets a peck on the cheek from Minnie Mouse.

Another option to do a special meal that your son would appreciate might be the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue.  There are no characters there, but it's a funny, slapstick, vaudeville type of show.  My nephews love the show and love the meal.

And don't rule out places like Crystal Palace, which right now has Pooh and friends, or the Hollywood and Vine character meals.  He may seem a little old for Pooh and the Playhouse Disney characters, but my 8 year old nephew still gets a kick out of both of those meals.
