Ahoy Elizabeth!
Welcome to the Moms Panel! Your crew has so much to look forward to because the Disney Fantasy has been an amazing addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet! The Disney Imagineers really outdid themselves when designing this vessel, and I know you and your family will enjoy it from stem to stern!
I think having a family member drop you off at the cruise terminal is a fantastic idea! When you pull in, just let security know you are not parking and the officer will direct your family to the drop-off location. Porters will be waiting to assist you with your luggage, and it will be an quick transition to the cruise terminal building. Pick-up will be easy as well, and it usually takes about 30 minutes or less to locate your luggage and pass through U.S. Customs.
There are several port adventure options to experience the ruins. The
Tulum Ruins are quite popular, but it is a longer tour so it is not recommended for children under eight. I would take the travel time in consideration because it does make for a long day. The
Cozumel Highlights and Mayan Ruins is a nice option because it isn't as long and will still give you a good look into an early Mexican civilization. After exploring the ruins, you will learn how tequila is made while your children participate in a pinata activity! On this excursion, you will also take in stunning views and see a cinderblock church which is the island's most ancient building!
I think your kids are great ages for this type of adventure so I don't think you will be disappointed in any of the ruin offerings, Elizabeth! If you need any further assistance, please let me know!
