Dear Cindy,
Thanks for connecting with us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel! How exciting to be planning your family's dream vacation! You will be down in Orlando at such a beautiful time of year.
In my opinion, Walt Disney World Resort does an amazing job of catering to families of all different configurations and sizes. For your family of 6, you have several terrific options!
As you suggested, you can reserve two rooms and request that they be close to each other. However, there are no guarantees that they will be close, based on how full a given hotel is for the nights of your booking. If your family configuration
doesn't mind that (i.e. no young children), then that might be a great option. If you would all like to stay closer together and want a different type of booking, I have a couple of other suggestions as well.
The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort are a relaxing getaway while still being
a short boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom, for example. Families of up to 6 can spread out in them, and they include a kitchen area as well! The other great option for your family is
Disney's Art of Animation Resort, with spacious family suites!
At a higher price point are choices such as Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disney's Beach Club Villas, Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa. These resorts offer a beautiful range of 1- and 2-bedroom villas!
Hope that helps! Have a magical time!
