My family want to bring our granddaughter to magic kingdom as she loves Mickey, she will be 1 year old and we are wondering if she is too young? Her dad has terminal cancer and will not be with us much longer, he desperately wants to see her with Mickey

Jacquie, I am so sorry that you are having to plan a vacation under such difficult circumstances, and having lost a very good friend to cancer last year before she had a chance to see her three little birds with Mickey Mouse, I understand completely your feeling of urgency.

I don't think there is such a thing as too young to go to Walt Disney World.  There is something there for kids of all ages, and I think by the time they were a year old, my girls were veterans of the theme parks.  There are plenty of attractions your granddaughter will be able to enjoy with family, and my girls always loved the colors and the music of the parades and the shows.

Some little ones are a bit afraid of the characters - even the Big Cheese himself - but you can get around that.  I used to put myself and my husband between my oldest daughter and the characters, so I had a picture of her with them, but she didn't get close enough to be frightened.

It's a wonderful time to create memories for your granddaughter, and even if she can't specifically remember this time herself, having the photographs with her dad and you to share your memories of a magical vacation, she will always treasure the time she enjoyed Walt Disney World with her daddy.

Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers, and if there is anything else we can do to help with the planning, please just let us know!
