My family (4 boys- 5,3,3,3) are planning dec 2012 to WDW. Which resort has more activities for kids? Animal kingdom? Boardwalk? Can't decide. Boardwalk is 2k cheaper? Why?

Hi Bob! Both the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Boardwalk Resorts are kid-friendly with lots of luxuries for the parents, so I'm sure your family will have a great time at either of them!

If your boys love animals, you may want to choose the Animal Kingdom Lodge. My kids love staying in a savanna-view room there and standing on our balcony spotting giraffes, zebras, and other animals. Each day at the Lodge the kids can participate in various activities such as cookie decorating, watching the flamingos feeding, or African storytelling.  When you stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, you really feel as if you're immersed in an African safari; it's really a unique experience!

The Boardwalk resort has a wonderful location that's within a short walk or boat ride to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios, which can be very convenient. If your boys like swimming, they'll love the twisty clown slide at the Boardwalk's pool.  The rooms at this resort are a little larger than the Animal Kingdom Lodge's. In the evenings, the Boardwalk area comes alive with strolling magicians, jugglers and other entertainers that enthrall children and adults.

In general the Animal Kingdom Lodge tends to cost less than the Boardwalk, so I'm puzzled as to why you would be finding a much higher price for the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I recommend that you re-price your vacation packages and make sure that you include all members of your party on both quotes, along with the same ticket and dining options. Also make sure that you are comparing similar accommodations, rather than a standard room at one resort vs. a suite at another, which could cause a big price difference. If the prices are similar for both resorts for the same type of accommodations, pick the one with the theme that appeals most to your family. If one costs significantly more than the other for the same room type, I'd choose the less expensive one, since they're both great resorts.

    Have a magical vacation!
