My family bought park tickets and then we had to cancel the trip unexpectedly. How long do we have to use the park tickets that we purchased?

Rose, thank you for coming to planDisney with your question. I am sorry to hear that you had to cancel your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort, but I have good news for you, they understand that the unexpected can happen, so while your tickets can’t be transferred or reimbursed, completely unused tickets dates can be changed for future use!

There are two different ways to go about doing this. The first is to use the My Disney Experience app by tapping on the menu icon (three horizontal lines) found in the bottom right corner. Select Tickets and Passes, then select the ticket you’d like to change, and you should see Change Ticket as an option. Using this option will allow you to select the dates for a new visit if you have one scheduled. You could also do this on your computer by going hovering over MyDisneyExperience on the main Walt Disney World website, selecting My Plans, scrolling to My Plans, Reservations, and Tickets, and clicking on Tickets & Memory Maker. You should see the option to change dates here. If neither options work for you or you are having trouble, I recommend contacting the phone number for Existing Tickets found in the Reservations and Tickets section of the Help Center.

My planDisney panelist friend, Alyssa, has some additional tips for you. She recommends keeping your tickets linked to your My Disney Experience account but keeping the ticket IDs or confirmation numbers in a safe place for if/when the tickets lapse due to not being used by your original dates. Cast Members will be able to locate the unused tickets in your account and apply their value to new tickets when you are ready to book your new vacation dates. You potentially will have to pay for any price increases if they have gotten more expensive than when you originally made your purchase.

I hope this answers your question, Rose, but more importantly, I hope you get to reschedule your visit sooner than later! Please visit us at planDisney if you have any additional questions, we would be happy to help!
