My family of 5 booked a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom @ Disney Dream this coming May. I want to confirm if this room will comfortably fit all five of us (kids ages 17, 15, and 12), or do I need to book two adjoining room? Thank you!

    Ahoy there, Harry!

Welcome to planDisney! Thanks for sailing by with your question.

You are about to set sail on one of my favorite ships to visit some of my favorite cities! The Disney Dream offers the perfect combination of activity and relaxation, and there is something for everyone in your family to enjoy. Since there is so much to do around the ship and so many exciting ports of call to explore, I expect you won’t be in your stateroom much.

However, though Disney Cruise Line makes incredible use of the 214 square foot space since your cruise is a 7-night cruise, you might find it a little challenging to have everyone comfortable in one Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom for that many days. You will need to utilize every bed option, including the upper berth pull-down bed. Your Stateroom Host will be happy to turn down all the beds in your stateroom each evening and put them away in the morning for you, but the space gets a little tight when all the beds are out. And, while there is plenty of storage room in each stateroom, it can sometimes be a challenge with five people to get ready each morning or for dinner. I’m not saying it can’t be done, but I want to prepare you for the possibility that family togetherness might take on a new meaning! You will certainly be more comfortable in adjoining staterooms with access to two bathrooms and a little more breathing room.

I just took a quick glance at the Disney Cruise Line website, and it appears that this is a very popular cruise and your adjoining stateroom options might be limited, so I recommend calling Disney Cruise Line today and allowing a helpful Cast Member to assist you with your plans if you decide to change them. There is no charge for their service, and they can help you navigate your options.

No matter what you decide, you will have a wonderful time! Be sure to see The Golden Mickey’s, one of the Broadway-caliber shows, in the Walt Disney Theatre. It is a witty and captivating show overflowing with great Disney moments.

    Wishing you many magical memories,
