My family and I are attending a Disney Cruise (5 nights) mid to end Jan 24. It's our first time in a Disney Cruise. I wonder how the weather used to be in Castaway Cay and Grand Cayman during this period. And what else is essential for us to know?

    Ahoy Daniela,

Welcome to planDisney! I'm so excited to hear you are getting ready to embark on your very first Disney Cruise Line vacation. My family has sailed around the same time on two prior occasions, and I'm really kicking myself for not reserving the same dates again in 2024.

Based on my research, it looks like you'll be enjoying a 5-night Western Caribbean Cruise on Disney Dream. We really enjoyed both of our weekend itineraries on this gorgeous ship so rest assured, you are set for a most magical time! If I've pinpointed your correct itinerary, your voyage will also feature Marvel Day at Sea, which is sure to be a SUPER experience!

While Mother Nature is always a bit mysterious my family experienced great weather on both of our January sailings. When we docked at Disney Castaway Cay in January 2020, we enjoyed a full day of sunshine, swimming and even a relaxing bike ride around the island. It was the perfect way to beat the post-holiday winter blues. When we returned in January 2022 we experienced the same temperatures, although our day was cut a little short when some strong winds began blowing through. We headed back to the ship and spent the rest of the afternoon lounging by the pool with complimentary soft-serve ice cream in hand. Another magical day!

Surprisingly, our January cruises both featured better weather than our most recent voyage on Disney Wish this past April. You really just never know what the weather will have in store, but plenty of magic awaits your family whether you experience constant sunshine or a passing rain shower. You can find a full list of the daily activities from movies, crafts, and character greetings on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App. We like to review everything once we step aboard and mark our favorites so we get a reminder as they are set to begin. It helps us make sure we never miss a minute of the fun!

As you're enjoying your magical time at sea be sure to check out the performance of Beauty and the Beast. We were so impressed by the production from costumes to staging, you won't want to miss it! I'm also including a link to the planDisney Pocket Guide so you can read up about the rest of the fun that awaits you onboard.

Daniela, please come back and visit us again with more planning questions. We hope to "sea" ya real soon!

    Magic and memories,
    Amy
