Our family is going to attend the MNSSHP in October. My husband is considering costumes, and thinking of being a Jedi. Would Jedi robes be considered “capes” according to the rules? Or are Jedi robes permitted for adults for the Party? Thank you!

Welcome, foolish mortal! Oops - welcome, Kimberly! I'm so glad you traveled past Tatooine's two moons and found your fellow Jedi here at planDisney. The Force is strong with you!

I'm thrilled to hear that you'll be traveling to a galaxy far, far away and will be landing at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year. This is one of my absolute favorite events, from the stage shows to the seasonal sweets to the ability to dress up as my favorite character!

Kimberly, I'm glad to hear that you've already taken a peek at the dress code and costume guidelines. You are correct, costumes that touch or drag on the ground, as well as longer capes, are prohibited for adults in the theme parks. However, we still need someone to defend the light side of the Force. So the question remains - what's a Jedi to do? After speaking to a Cast Member, they suggested that a Jedi robe would be acceptable as long as it does not touch the ground. Please know that layered costumes are also subject to additional security screening. For my comfort level, I would consider wearing Jedi robes if they didn't flow farther past my hips (which is a similar guideline to wearing capes). First, this will keep you feeling a lot lighter and cooler in the humid Florida temperatures (it stays pretty hot, even through October!). Second, this will help you to easily navigate the party and enter attractions without any obstruction. If you're feeling unsure, you could even dress up in some alternate Star Wars costumes, such as a belted Jedi costume, orange pilot jumpsuit, or even as a friendly Ewok! Whichever path you choose, I know you're going to have a galactically great time.

Remember, Guests of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party are able to enter Magic Kingdom Park beginning at 4:00 PM. This is a great way to mobile order a few snacks before jumping into all the fun! And don't forget to experience some of the Halloween overlays on some of your favorite attractions, such as Mad Tea Party and Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. You're in for some spooky fun!

    Boo to you!
