Hi Diana!
Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I have a secret that may shock you, but rainy days at
Disneyland Resort can really be the
BEST! I know that's hard to believe, but I promise if you plan there is a lot of positives!
The first thing I would recommend is ponchos for the entire party. Some people like to purchase these ahead of time and bring them with them, but they are also available for purchase at multiple areas throughout Disneyland Resort. I actually have some Disney ponchos that are older than my toddler because they are thick and very well made so I get multiple uses out of them. I find that ponchos are much easier than trying to manage umbrellas or anything like that for my crew. I think you'll find they keep you very dry and if anything happens and you do get a rip or tear in them throughout the day, you can switch them out for a new one anywhere on property! Another thing I would consider is a backup pair of shoes for everyone. I find that I'm fairly comfortable if my clothes get a few splashes, but wet soggy shoes are a deal breaker. I usually start the day in sneakers, if the rain gets heavy, I'll switch to sandals and keep my sneakers dry. The best thing about rainy Disney days is a lot of local residents shy away from soggy days, so there's a good chance you'll experience very short queues!
For the six year old in the party, I'd recommend letting them plan and pick part of the adventure for the day! I know we often plan to last second what we want to do with all our park time, but when kids get the chance to call the shots it makes it so much more fun for them. Let them explore the
Disneyland Mobile App beforehand and pick out somethings they want to do!
