We are a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids ages 8, 6 & 3) & are not sure which dining plan would be best- we are considering basic dining plan vs deluxe? Also, does table service take up a lot of time, esp if the table is not ready despite reservation

Hi Susanne! Dining experiences at Walt Disney World vary from quick grab and go fare to signature five course meals. Disney Dining Plans are built so you can enjoy your meals without having to worry about finite costs as its built in to the pricing. Truly, the selection of DDP depends on your eating habits. If your family is the type that enjoys sit down service for each meal, and would like to have Signature dining experiences daily, then the Deluxe plan is definitely for you. If your family is the type to enjoy quick meals during the day and a table service experience for dinner, then the basic plan is a good choice for you all. Table service meals do tend to take up a bit of time. Normally, when checking in the wait can be anywhere between 15-20 minutes prior to being seated. You can then expect about a 45-60 minute dining experience depending on how quickly you want to be finished. For example, a meal at Raglan Road took us about one hour while a meal at California Grill lasted us almost two hours. You can find more comprehensive information about the Disney Dining Plan and restaurants on the dining page of the Walt Disney World website, www.DisneyWorld.com Hope this helps you plan your magical vacation! -Malanie
