    Our family of 5 adults and 3 children 4, 2 & 2 (one of the children has autism) will be going to Disney in Dec 12-17 I noticed the parks close early. What other things are there to do outside of the parks in Dec? Do they still do the Electric Water Pa

    Paula,

    There are a ton of things to do at Walt Disney World outside of the parks at night. We have a trip in October where we had a free evening, and the problem was not finding something to do. The problem was choosing what to do! Here are a few of my favorites;

    Disney BoardWalk: We are going to spend our free night with a dinner at an area restaurant (Flying Fish!), followed by some seaside (or rather, lagoon-side) fun. We are going to rent a surrey bike so my little ones (4 and 6) can see the sights without having to do a lot of walking. We are going to have dessert from the Seashore Sweets shop on the boardwalk, so everyone can get what they want. Then we are going to enjoy some of the boardwalk entertainment, like magicians, joke tellers, and jugglers. All G-rated, but fun for adults and kids.

    Downtown Disney: A lot more to do and see that the BoardWalk, here you can dine, shop, and even catch some real nightlife. There is a permanent Cirque du Soleil theater here, several great restaurant selections, and the largest Disney store in the world!

    Resort Fun: Visiting a resort can be more of an event than you think. The Animal Kingdom Lodge comes to mind, with the animal viewing areas, the amazing lobby, and again, some great dining choices. If you pick a monorail resort (or Fort Wilderness or the Wilderness Lodge) you can also see that Electric Water Pageant that should be running, even in December.

    These are three initial thoughts. Send me info on where you are staying, what you might like to do, and any other relevant information in a follow-up question and I can provide some more specific ideas.

    Have a magical vacation!
