My fam. is trav. to WDW for the 1st time with our 5 and 7 yr old. It will be 8 days over L-Day 2010. This trip will be a big splurge and prob. our only stay in the park. We can't dec. GF or a villa at Wild. Lodge. What do you think kids will enjoy more?

Hi, Jennifer!  I love the Grand Floridian, and you absolutely can't beat the convenience of having the monorail right there, especially with young children.  While the resort itself can be a bit intimidating for little kids, there are sometimes games by the pool, bedtime stories, and things like the Wonderland Tea Party, the Pirate Cruise, and other events that are meant for kids.

Having said that, my family absolutely loves the villas at Wilderness Lodge.  I took my girls and my two nephews there in October, and they didn't want to leave the resort!  You definitely feel transported out of Florida and into the wilderness, and the villa gives you plenty of room to spread out.  If you are in a villa that is one bedroom or larger (as opposed to a studio), you have a jacuzzi tub, full kitchen, and a washer and dryer.  We always manage to save time and money by using the kitchen for breakfast in the morning, and having the washer and dryer has always been helpful at keeping our luggage needs minimal.

I think the only drawback to Wilderness Lodge is that you don't have the immediate access to the monorail, and if you are going to be at the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT for a good portion of your vacation, it's very nice to have, especially if you plan to take breaks during the day to head back to your room.

Weigh the pros and cons of both to see what works for your family.  I think for me, I'd give the slight edge to Grand Floridian for convenience; but a slight edge to the Wilderness Lodge for the setting.  I just love the lodge in the woods feel to the place!

Have a great time, wherever you choose!
