Are there any fake animals on Safari @ AK? I was about 12 in '03 when we had to wait for a rhino to get out of the road and when it did move a few feet to the side I reached out and touched it ;) (young and stupid) did i actually touch a real rhino?!

    Hi Erica!

Yup - you actually touched a real rhino! The dozens of animals and birds on the Kilimanjaro Safari savannas are real, and sometimes the ride vehicles will need to pause while they move through the roadway (as happened to you).

Since they are real animals, guests are always reminded to keep their hands and arms inside the ride vehicle and to seat small children to the inside of the ride vehicle. Be sure to pay attention to those warnings!

During your trip, you would have seen one animatronic animal. At the end of the ride, when Little Red is "saved", the elephant trunk and head you see in the back of the poachers vehicle is robotic. But that's it - all the rest were real!
