My extended family is taking their first trip to DW and I am wondering where we should stay. We have been to DW and were thinking of the Polynesian but am wondering if the Art of Animation is better for first time visitors with small children?

How exciting you are planning a Walt Disney World vacation with your extended family, Amanda! I personally think you are considering two great resorts and have personally stayed at both! I recently enjoyed a lovely stay at Disney's Art of Animation Resort and loved the immersive storybook theming and attention to detail at every turn!  I do think Disney's Art of Animation Resort offers fun theming for small children and The Family Suites are a great option for larger families or those wanting to spread out a bit more. Disney's Art of Animation Resort offers dedicated bus service and The Big Blue Pool, one of the coolest pools on property, in my personal opinion. With that being said, I would have to personally recommend Disney's Polynesian Resort for first time visitors with young children. At Disney's Polynesian Resort, guests can easily travel to Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, and the other Magic Kingdom Resorts via the monorail. When traveling on the Disney buses, guests must collapse their strollers. Guests do not have to collapse strollers on the monorail which makes traveling much easier with young children. Disney's Polynesian Resort offers tropical theming, spacious guest room accommodations, great dining options, and fun recreational activities. My family loves to watch the Electrical Water Pageant and Wishes Nighttime Spectacular from the beach at Disney's Polynesian Resort. I honestly would choose Disney's Polynesian Resort if the difference in cost is within your budget, due to the close proximity to Magic Kingdom Park and the convenient transportation available at this resort location. I have always loved being able to easily travel back to our Disney Resort for that much needed midday break or nap. I hope this helps in making your decision! Please don't hesitate to write me back with any additional questions. Best wishes for a magical trip, Amanda!
    Happy Planning,
