Our extended family of 10 plan to visit WDW in December 2008. Is Christmas Day a good time to visit to avoid crowds? Any tips on ways to stay on a budget?

    Joan,

Christmas Day is Disney's busiest day of the year.  It's one of the few days when parks are filled to capacity and they actually have to turn people away because there's no room at the inn.

If you want to visit around the holidays but avoid the crowds, I suggest you consider early December.  The holiday decorations are up, the festivities are in full swing, and the crowd levels are low.  And the weather is still fantastic!

For staying on a budget, I recommend the Disney Dining Plan.  It can save you money on meals for sure, but it also allows you to know and control the majority of your cost up front.  With transportation, accommodations, and meals all out of the way, all you'll have left to budget for is spending money, which is much easier to control.  We like getting 'Disney Dollars' at the Disney Store.  These work great for the kids to keep track of their own spending money, and are a lot more fun than your ordinary dollar.

    Have fun planning!
