Our extended family (my fam of 4 plus 2 grandparents and an aunt and uncle-8 total) is trying to decide when to take a group trip: 12/28-1/1 or 2/2-2/6. Could you lay out the pros and cos for each, please?

    Hi Steven!

I think deciding when to go to Walt Disney World is one of the hardest parts of planning a trip!

You've picked two great times - but both for very different reasons.

First, the December dates you've listed fall during the Christmas Holiday week. This is typically the most popular time to visit the Disney Parks. The parks and resorts are decorated beautifully for the holidays and there are special activities all throughout the world. Since it is a very, very popular time, the parks operating hours tend to be among the longest you'll see all year round. The New Years Eve fireworks really are top-notch and will rival the fireworks anywhere in the globe!

February is another great time to go - with almost the opposite extreme for park visitors. Since the Christmas and January holidays have ended, crowds tend to be lower. In fact, I've had a number of trips during early February and LOVE that the parks are less crowded, the weather is cooler (true of December too) and that we're often able to find great deals on airfare and at the Disney resorts.

Personally, since you are planning on bringing grandparents and other adults, I would probably lean towards February as it may be easier to tour the parks with less crowds. However, seeing the holidays at the World is very special too... Good luck deciding!
