Hi Whitney!
Thanks for visiting us at planDisney! How exciting that your family will be visiting Disney World together for the first time so soon! It sounds like you’ll get to take advantage of the free water park tickets on arrival day when staying at a Disney World resort this year. What a
great perk!
This summer,
Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon were both open at the same time…something that hasn’t happened in a while, which was such a great surprise!
However, the water parks are usually open on an alternating basis. And according to the water park hours currently listed, Typhoon Lagoon will be the only water park open on your arrival date.
Of course, this is always subject to change, so I’d keep an eye on the
Hours & Events Calendar. But, I’d also start planning your day for
Typhoon Lagoon just in case! My boys absolutely loved Ketchakiddie Creek and Castaway Creek there.
It’s also good to note that, to get to Typhoon Lagoon from the Disney World resorts, you will likely need to
transfer buses at Disney Springs. So, you’ll hop on the bus from your resort to Typhoon Lagoon. That bus will go to Disney Springs, and then the bus driver can direct you to the area where you’ll catch the bus to Typhoon Lagoon.
Because of that, make sure you account for extra travel time. If you’re hoping to get to the water park a little quicker, you may want to consider booking a
Minnie Van. That way, you can go straight from your resort to the water park without transferring.
It worked out great for my family to take the bus, though, because at the end of our time at Typhoon Lagoon, we were able to grab dinner at
Disney Springs! That’s something we don’t always make time for during our Disney World vacations, so it was a nice change of pace for us. Plus, you’ll find some
amazing restaurants there!
I hope that helps! If you have any other questions as you continue to plan, let us know. Have the best time with your family!
