We are so excited to stay at the Boardwalk in October but I have read that it can take a really long time to take the bus from the Boardwalk to MK. We were not planning to rent a car. Is it possible to walk into Epcot and take the monorail to MK?

    Hi Kerri,

The Boardwalk Resort area is one of our favorite Disney World resorts because of the proximity to Epcot and Hollywood Studios as well as all the fun night time entertainment options.

At times, the bus ride to the Magic Kingdom can take a little while as the route sometimes shares a bus with other resorts in the same area, like Swan/Dolphin and Yacht and Beach Club. Yes, you are able to walk from the resort, through Epcot and to the front where the monorail is if you would like. The only thing you must remember is you have to have a park hopper pass to be able to do this. In order to get from the Boardwalk to the monorail you must enter Epcot. Once you enter Epcot, your pass will be "charged" an admission, and without a park hopper option, you would not be able to enter Magic Kingdom that same day.

On a side note, my thoughts on this plan are that it will most likely not be any shorter of a trip if you opt for this route. You will need to walk from the resort, to Epcot, clear security and the gates, walk through a portion of World Showcase and Future World, wait for the monorail, ride to the Ticket and Transportation Center, where you need to switch from one monorail to the other and then ride to Magic Kingdom. Honestly, the Disney bus, even with additional stops, will most likely be the same time if not faster, and you will be able to save your energy for playing at Magic Kingdom.

    Wishing you a magical trip!
