Hi, I am very excited to be cruising on the Fantasy in July 2013. My family and I are observant Catholics and I am worried about finding a time to attend Mass. We are at Sea on the first Sunday of our vacation. Will there be a Mass available on board?

Welcome aboard, Tanya! I'm so glad you found the Moms Panel as you are preparing to set sail for your exciting Disney cruise!

My family and I are also observant Catholics, so I completely understand your desire to attend Sunday Mass while you are on your vacation. Have you ever checked out the website called Catholic Mass Times? My family uses that whenever we are on a trip, as we can easily type in the zip code where we will be and all of the Catholic churches in that area are shown, along with their Mass times, both daily and Sunday. I'd suggest checking to see if there is a Mass you can attend Saturday morning before you board the ship. I'm sure that depending on where you stay the night before, you can find a  Mass close to your hotel. Usually the Saturday Masses are early, so you'll still have time to get to the ship.

I know that doesn't fulfill your Sunday obligation since it's a Saturday morning Mass and not a Sunday Mass held on Saturday evening. However, unless there happens to be a priest cruising on that sailing and desiring to celebrate Mass by setting it up on his own, Disney Cruise Line does not hold a Catholic Mass onboard. Quite often on Sundays onboard we have seen an Interdenominational Service around 9:00 a.m. As Catholics, again, I know this doesn't fulfill our Sunday obligation, but as we are at sea and unable to attend a Mass that day, attending this service does at least help me to set aside an hour of prayer.

I hope that gives you a bit more information and a few ideas for your sailing, Tanya. Please stop back with any other questions you might have as you continue to plan your magical sailing with Disney!
