Hi Susan,
My husband and I love to use
Disney Gift Cards as a budgeting tool for our
Walt Disney World Resort vacations. As we save up for our next trip, we purchase Disney Gift Cards as a visual reminder that we are making progress towards more magical family memories. It's fun to see a little stack form as we approach the final payment day! Then, we normally surprise our daughters with
Disney Gift Cards for their souvenir spending money. So I totally understand why you would like to know how the exchange rate works for your Canadian Disney Gift Cards.
For this, I consulted my planDisney pal,
Lynne. She is a Canadian Disney mega-fan (and accomplished
runDisney athlete, I might add!)
She shared that for Disney Gift Cards purchased in Canadian funds, the entire face value will be converted from CAD to USD at the exchange rate on the date of first use, not the date of purchase. Once converted, then you are free to hold onto that Disney Gift Card or spend it as you wish, but it will remain in USD.
Susan, it looks like you are planning to visit Walt Disney World Resort during my favorite season:
EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival! Not only will you see some incredible topiaries from talented creators, but you can also taste deliciously fresh flavors from around the world and even catch popular artists in the
Garden Rocks Concert Series! I highly recommend reserving a
Garden Rocks Dining Package to secure your spot at the concert and enjoy a meal you won't soon forget for the perfect Disney Day!
Come on back and visit us at planDisney with any other questions, Susan. We are here for you!
Adventure is out there,
Sally
