Bonnie,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
The world of
Walt Disney World tickets can be a bit confusing at first, but with a little direction, it will all become clear!
When you purchase a theme park ticket package, you select how many theme park admission days you want for your visit. Let us go with an example of a 4-day park ticket package. This means that you have 4 days where you can enter one theme park per day. This does not include the water parks, only the four theme parks.
The great news is that you get 7 days to redeem those visits, from the first day of your planned trip. So, if you want to visit a theme park on days 2 and 3 of your visit, then take a breather and sit by the pool or go shopping on day 4, that is OK! You can use those other two park admissions on days 5 or 6 or 7. It is up to you!
But you are asking about the
Water Parks and Sports Option. When this option is added to a ticket package, you get a specific number of additional activities, along with your theme park visits, to enjoy on your vacation. Options include admission to either of the Disney Water Parks, namely
Disney's Blizzard Beach and
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon. Other choices include some golf and miniature golf options, just to name a few. In our 4-day example you get four of these added event admissions. So that 7-day window to use your theme park tickets makes it easier on that no-theme park day to visit a water park.
BONUS TIP #1Yes, you can visit a water park and a theme park on the same day. Just make sure you have a Theme Park Reservation using the
Disney Park Pass system for that theme park selection.
BONUS TIP #2Water parks do not require an advance reservation.
BONUS TIP #3If you choose not to purchase the Water Park and Sports Option, but later decide you want to go to a water park on your trip, you can still purchase a single day pass at the Water Park front gate.
