Welcome aboard, Chelsea! Planning a Disney cruise with extended family is really a lot of fun! We've sailed three times with extended family and have made even more magical memories together. You're in for one amazing cruise!
Since it sounds like there would be four adults and one child, I'd suggest booking two adjoining staterooms. The Magic offers adjoining staterooms that allow families to open a door between the two staterooms. When my parents sailed in a stateroom right next to us, our kids loved being able to go back and forth between our room and my parents' room. Since we were staying in a Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms with a Verandah, the extra bonus was that the partitions between each verandah can be folded back, allowing guests to create one longer connected verandah. So, not only did we have the door in between our staterooms, but we also could sit out on the verandah together and access both staterooms using those doors. Take a look at the different
Disney Cruise Line stateroom categories to get a better sense of what might work for your family. The agents at Disney Cruise Line are happy to work with you to find adjoining staterooms within your budget and on the deck you prefer.
We like sailing on Deck 6 on the Magic, as it's a middle deck, making it easy to get everywhere on the ship. We also prefer our staterooms to be Midship so we can get Forward or Aft without having to walk too far.
Have fun planning, Chelsea and let us know if you have other questions as you get ready to set sail!
