Hi everyone! We are looking forward to experiencing Characters in Flight for the first time, this coming August. I know certain weather conditions affect whether it is operating or not, but if all is well, what time is the first flight of the day?

    Hi, Susan!

How wonderful that your family is planning an August visit to Walt Disney World Resort! You'll be right in the middle of all the magic before you know it!

Characters in Flight is a really fun tethered helium balloon experience in Downtown Disney West Side. You are absolutely correct that the flight is subject to weather conditions -- the balloon will not ascend if wind speeds exceed 22 mph or if there is a storm. The first flight of the day is at 8:30 AM and the last flight goes up just before midnight. You'll enjoy a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view of the Downtown Disney area and beyond, so planning a morning flight is a super idea! Also, Downtown Disney tends to be far less crowded in the morning before lunchtime, which means you should have a very short to perhaps even no wait to board your flight.

I'll be sending you some extra pixie-dust for perfect winds for your flight and perfect weather for your entire August stay at Walt Disney World Resort! Please let me know if I can assist you further in your planning as you count down the days to your holiday at the Most Magical Place on Earth.
