Does every guest in a party have to purchase the same type of Lightning Lane? Can some purchase Lightning Lane Premier and others Lightning Lane Multi Pass?

Welcome to planDisney, Sarah! I’m so glad you stopped by with your question. Visiting Walt Disney World during the holiday season is like adding a sprinkle of pixie dust to an already magical experience—there’s nothing quite like it!

You’re smart to start thinking about your park touring strategies during this busy time of year. To answer your question, no, not everyone in your party needs to purchase the same type of Lightning Lane Pass. Each guest can select the option that works best for them, whether it’s the Lightning Lane Multi-Pass (LLMP), Lightning Lane Premier Pass (LLPP), or a single attraction pass, called Lightning Lane Single Pass (LLSP).

If you’re purchasing Lightning Lane passes for your entire party, you can absolutely mix and match the pass types by completing two separate transactions. First, ensure everyone is connected to your Family & Friends list in your My Disney Experience app. Once connected, you can select the members of your group for one pass type, complete that purchase, and then repeat the process for the remaining party members with the other pass type. This way, everyone can have the option that suits their park day best!

Those with LLPP will enjoy the ultimate flexibility, entering most Lightning Lanes on demand without pre-scheduling. Meanwhile, the ones with LLMP can choose return times for multiple attractions throughout the day. These Guests can choose up to 3 Multi Pass experiences in advance, and then once a selection has been redeemed, they can use the app to check availability for another experience. If everyone wants to ride together, those with LLPP can simply join the group when the LLMP return window begins.

If you’re staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you can begin booking Lightning Lane passes as early as 7 AM, seven days before your arrival. Otherwise, booking opens three days in advance. Keep in mind that prices and availability for all types of Lightning Lane passes can vary by date and park, so I recommend checking the app for real-time updates.

I hope this information helps you plan a stress-free and enchanting holiday visit, Sarah. If you have any more questions, we’re here to help every step of the way. Have a holly, jolly vacation at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
