Hi, every few years, we go to Disney (will be 5 or 6 times now). I was wondering how come not all hotels on Disney Property are included when you book a vacation (I know a couple Downtown that is not on their list).

    Kelly,

When you look on the Walt Disney World website, they list all of the Disney owned and operated resort hotels and campgrounds, as well as the Walt Disney World Dolphin and Swan. The Walt Disney World Dolphin and Swan are operated by the SPG Group, namely by Sheraton (Dolphin) and Westin (Swan). I cannot speak to what kind of special relationship exists between the SPG Group and Disney so that these resorts get listed, while all the Hotel Plaza Boulevard hotels are not listed. I would have to guess that this related to some contractual agreement, and it has pretty much always been this way.

If you decide to book with any of these non-Disney owned-resorts just check as to what special features they do, or do not have. A few get to enjoy Disney transportation, others get to use Extra Magic Hours, it really can vary hotel by hotel.

I do like to stay at the Dolphin when there with kids, and the Swan for that magical Westin Heavenly Bed. On Hotel Plaza Boulevard you will find that many of the resorts have also undergone recent upgrades that make them very appealing. Also look at the Hilton and Waldorf Astoria complex in the nearby Bonnet Creek area. They might be the best new hotels in the Orlando area.

Write me back if you have any follow-up questions!

    Have a magical vacation!
