Are there ever any non-Star Wars characters out during Star Wars Half Marathon weekend? Like Mickey and the gang?

Hi, Kelly! Thanks for bringing another great question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I ran the inaugural Star Wars Dark Side Half Marathon in 2016, and my husband ran the Star Wars Rival Run 10K last year. Looking back at our photos from both of those races, I only see Star Wars Characters along each of the courses. While there were photo opportunities also available during the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo, they were Star Wars themed, too (my favorite being Jabba the Hutt).

The Star Wars Rival Run Weekend is a perfect event for the fan of all things Star Wars. From Stormtroopers to Captain Phasma, Darth Vader and Kylo Ren, the Dark Side was in full Force when I ran in 2016. My husband saw characters including R2-D2, BB-8 and Chewbacca during his 2018 adventure. Both races provided awesome opportunities for quick selfies and posed photos with some of our favorite Characters in the Galaxy.

Make sure you purchase Memory Maker before the Star Wars Rival Run Weekend, and wear your bib with your number clearly displayed on the front of your running attire so you’ll have plenty of awesome memories of this out-of-this-world runDisney event. Be on the lookout for official PhotoPass photographers next to bright green pop-up tents along the course, but make sure you have your phone with you for some of those Character photo stops, too.

Enjoy your race, Kelly, and May the Force be With You!
