If I am on a European cruise to Italy next summer is it possible to leave the ship at its last port stop and miss the last day at sea?

    Welcome back to planDisney, Lucy!

My family and I have visited some pretty amazing places while on holiday aboard the Disney Cruise line, including Alaska, Hawai'i, South America, the Caribbean, and more. But with world-class dining, entertainment, and phenomenal Disney Cruise Line magic, it's no surprise that we've also found that the Disney Cruise Line ships themselves are as much or oftentimes more of a desirable destination in and of themselves than even those fantastic port locations. In fact, sea days tend to be our favorite days during a Disney cruise.

That said, I can understand that individual travel circumstances might mean that it occasionally makes sense to cut short a Disney Cruise Line holiday. While it's not typical, Guests can sometimes make arrangements for their final disembarkation at a port before the final destination port of a given cruise itinerary.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when planning final disembarkation at a port earlier in a Disney Cruise Line itinerary:

    • Whether a Guest chooses to remain onboard for the full itinerary or not, the full cruise fare is still required and cannot be prorated.
    • Each guest is responsible for ensuring they have the proper passports, visas, and other documentation necessary to comply with entry requirements for the duration they will be visiting each country during their travel.
    • Before final disembarkation, Guests should stop by the Guest Services Desk onboard to settle their onboard account. The Disney Cruise Line Navigator app is a useful tool for tracking account activity leading up to final account settlement.
    • Guests disembarking at an early port must hand-carry all of their own luggage, as stewards and porters will not be available to assist with luggage in ports other than the final destination port.
    • It is recommended that Guests planning to disembark early call Disney Cruise Line in advance to annotate their reservation accordingly so that the crew onboard can anticipate that need. If a previously unanticipated need to disembark early should arise, Guests should make arrangements at the Guest Services Desk at their earliest convenience.

Whether you can remain onboard for the duration of your Disney cruise itinerary or not, I wish you safe travels and truly magical holidays.

    Have a great voyage, Lucy!
