Hello there, Jim! Thanks for bringing your excellent question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
I was sad when the Magic Kingdom Skyway closed in 1999, and I've hoped ever since then that the Imagineers would find a way to bring back this little piece of nostalgia. Disney's highly anticipated
Skyliner, which opens to Guests on September 29, is just that, and it sounds like it might just be an attraction in its own right! I love that it will offer a bird's eye view of Walt Disney World Resort while providing transportation at the same time.
I've been analyzing the Skyliner map routes and based upon the fact that it will travel 11 miles per hour, I'd guess it will take about 15 minutes to get from
Disney's Hollywood Studios to
Epcot; however, this does not factor in wait time to board or transfer times at the Caribbean Beach Skyliner station, which is the main hub.
If efficiency is your priority Jim, I'd bet that walking to the Parks would win the race any day! Strolling along the waterside path at a moderate pace will get you there in about 20 minutes. The
Friendship Boats that sail along Cresent Lake will take longer (close to 30 minutes), as they make a few resort stops, but this route is also very relaxing and scenic.
If your schedule permits, I'd suggest trying all three modes of transportation, Jim! I also hope you get to experience the excitement to is to come with
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge during your vacation! If you have any more questions, remember we're all EARs.
